How to Send us Coins

How it works…

We like to make things as easy as possible, and that’s why we offer three simple, convenient and secure ways for how to exchange Euro coins.

If you have more than 10kg of foreign or Euro coins then we use a secure national courier service to collect them from you for FREE (UK Only).

The address must be in the UK and the courier must be able to collect within normal working hours Monday to Friday. Click For info on How to package your Euro coins

Contact us to arrange a FREE collection

If your coins weigh between 5kg and 10kg then we provide a FREE and secure drop off service. We have over 4500 UK wide (Ireland by arrangement) places where you can drop your coins to be collected by a courier. These are open extended hours and you receive a full receipt with tracking code so you can track the progress of your parcel.

To find your nearest drop off place simply put your post code into the finder below. Then contact us with your postcode to be sent a pre-paid label for your coins.

Note: We must send you a pre-paid label to attach to the package before it is dropped off.

For less than 5kg of coins we provide a subsidised drop off service. This is a low cost and convenient way to send us your Euro and foreign coins for exchange. We have over 4500 places across the UK (Ireland by arrangement) that will accept your parcel. You receive a receipt and tracking code to track the progress of your parcel online.

The subsidised service is divided into two weight categories.

1kg to 2kg of coins

If you have between 1kg and 2kg of coins then we make a nominal charge of £4.89 (inc. VAT) for the drop-off service. Go to our postcode finder to find your nearest drop off point. Then simply e-mail us with your postcode for the label.

Note: We must send you a label to attach to the package before it is dropped off.

2kg to 5kg of coins

For coins that weigh between 2kg and 5kg then we make a nominal charge of £6.19 (inc. VAT) for using the drop-off service. Simply put your postcode in the postcode finder for your closest drop-off point. Then e-mail us with your post code for the label.

What if I have below 1kg of coins?

If you have 1kg or less of Euro or foreign coins then we suggest that it would be cheaper sending them with Royal Mail recorded delivery services. Please note that coins MUST be sent recorded delivery so you get a proof of receipt and delivery.

As of 1st May 2012 Royal Mail 1^st Class Recorded delivery was £4.10 and 2^nd class recorded delivery was £3.70 for 2nd class recorded delivery – Please check the Royal Mail website for latest prices.

Where do I send the coins?

If you are posting the coins to us (i.e. not using the courier or drop off service) then you’ll need to download and print off  our Cash4Coins Currency Form with ADDRESS LABEL. All postage must be sent by recorded delivery. Please read our terms and conditions attached to the form in page two. By sending your currency to us you are deemed to agree to our standard business terms and conditions.

If you cannot print our form include your full contact details in the package. Please put the address exactly as below and do not put Cash4Coins on packaging due to security in transit through Royal Mail. Alternatively cut out the address label from the form.

The address label is on the downloaded form, please remember to put your email address on the label to be notified of receipt.

Please note that this is only a secure postage address and all cash is removed each day to our counting office. Personal callers are welcome to drop sealed packets during normal business hours but exchanges of foreign coins for cash are not possible at this address, it is purely for secure mail to be stored during business hours.

How to package your Euro coins

Packing small amounts of Euro coins and currency

We recommend that you place your Euro coins in one sealed envelope that is then folded in half and secured with strong packing tape. For extra security in transit and so the envelope does not burst we recommend that you place the envelope in a second envelope and again secure with tape. Then, put it in the third envelope for posting to the address label cut out from our form.

Packing large amounts of Euros

Large collections of 50kg or more will be collected by our staff. We provide the packaging.

For other amounts please pack the Euro and foreign currency (coins and notes) into a carrier bag and secure all around with strong tape. Place that in another carrier bag and secure with tape and then into a strong cardboard box.

Fill any spare space in the box very firmly with scrap paper to stop the coins moving about. Securely tape the box on all seams and if in doubt use more tape! Coins are natural escape artists in transit!

Once packaged with plenty of tape let us know the approximate size of the parcel. We will email to you the prepaid courier label to print and attach to the parcel.

Handy Tip!

Cardboard boxes from copier paper are not generally strong enough for more than 12kg! Please keep a box to a maximum of 26kg. If it is too heavy to lift on your own it is usually over 26kg. If you are concerned that a box is not strong enough let us know and we will send a box to you for weights over 12kg complete with packing. (Postage contribution of £2.75 only will be deducted from the collection)

Insurance

NB: We will indemnify you for a maximum of £100 per package if the currency is lost in transit during a collection we arranged where collection has been confirmed by the courier. Cover is not provided if the loss was due to inadequate packaging. If you wish to insure the currency for a higher amount you will need to advise us first. You will be pleased to hear that we have not to date had a parcel lost in transit.

Which Euro coins do we accept?

Simple – we accept ALL Euro coins (and notes). In fact we accept all worldwide currency, even old UK and Irish coins.

What can be exchanged?

Depending on the date of issue and denomination, a few of the old pre-euro coins are exchanged at a nominal or scrap value. It’s not necessary to remove these. Notes can sometimes be exchanged, so again they are worth sending as we will individually check all coins and notes.

Please note that all Spanish banknotes can be exchanged but only the last issued Spanish Peseta coins can be exchanged (pre this they are exchanged at a nominal or scrap value).

Euro Coin Sorting and Counting

All euro coins and packages are scheduled for opening and counting in the order they are received. Please ensure that your e-mail is on the outside of the package so we can send you notification of arrival. We try to get an offer to buy your Euro coins to you as fast as possible – this can take between 3 and 14 days depending on workload.

Cheques incur a £1.50 fee (FEE WAIVED for CHARITIES)
